Mrs. McCarthy

Hello! I am so excited to be teaching 1st grade again! I love 1st grade—the students are so sweet, they love to learn, the curriculum is fun to teach, and the student growth is amazing!

I grew up in Fort Worth, Texas and moved to Parker, Colorado with my family when I was a junior in high school. I graduated from the University of Colorado with BA in Psychology in 1997, and a Masters degree in Elementary Education, with an emphasis in Literacy in 2001. I taught 2nd grade for 1 year, and then 1st grade for 5 years before starting a family and staying home with our boys.

My husband, Jason, and I have been married for 20 years. We have three boys (all have attended PCK since kindergarten) and are now in 12th, 9th, and 6th grades. When our youngest was in 1st grade, I began substitute teaching at PCK, mostly in K-2nd grades. I subbed for three years, and then became a Tier Two Interventionist at PCK. I enjoyed teaching small reading groups and 3rd grade math for two years.

My family is active at our church, along with Boy Scouts, and Ponderosa baseball. In my free time I love to read, cook (specifically perfecting my homemade pizza crust), and sing.
